Travel Documents
During your stay abroad, the travel document serves as proof of identity and as evidence of the citizenship of the Republic of Serbia. The travel document may only be used by the person in whose name it was issued.
Please keep your travel documents safe during your stay abroad. In case of loss or damage, contact the nearest diplomatic-consular mission of the Republic of Serbia.
LOSS OF PASSPORT
In case of loss or theft of a biometric passport of the Republic of Serbia, it is necessary to report the disappearance of the passport to the local police and obtain a confirmation/report. After that, the procedure for declaring the lost passport invalid may be initiated at the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia, along with submitting a request for the issuance of a travel document for return to the Republic of Serbia.
To obtain a travel document due to the loss of a passport, the following documents must be submitted:
- Identification document (ID card or Serbian driver’s license)
- Police report on the loss of the passport
- Completed and signed statement on the loss of the passport (MS Word format)
- Two photographs, size 3.5 x 4.5 cm, clearly showing the face (frontal view – not profile or half-profile, no hat or scarf)
- Clearly filled-out application for the issuance of a travel document, signed on both pages (signature must be notarized if the application is sent by mail)
- Consular fee of 42 EUR, payable in cash only
- If the application is sent by mail, a return envelope with paid postage must be enclosed.
ISSUANCE OF A TRAVEL DOCUMENT FOR RETURN TO SERBIA
A travel document is a travel certificate used only for returning to the Republic of Serbia and is valid for one month from the date of issuance. It is issued to individuals who have reported the loss of their passport or in other cases prescribed by law. The application for the issuance of a travel document must be submitted in person at the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia or by mail. The following documents must be provided:
- Identification document (blue passport of FR Yugoslavia, ID card, or Serbian driver’s license)
- Two photographs, size 3.5 x 4.5 cm, clearly showing the face (frontal view – not profile or half-profile, no hat or scarf)
- Clearly filled-out application for the issuance of a travel document, signed on both pages (signature must be notarized if the application is sent by mail)
- Consular fee of 42 EUR, payable in cash only
- If the application is sent by mail, a return envelope with paid postage must be enclosed.
