Document Certification
CERTIFICATION OF SIGNATURE ON A POWER OF ATTORNEY OR STATEMENT
The certification of a signature on private documents in Serbian (such as a power of attorney or statement) for use in the Republic of Serbia is carried out at the Embassy upon presentation of a valid identification document of the Republic of Serbia (passport or ID card).
The private document must be signed in the presence of the consular officer at the Embassy.
The consular fee for certifying one signature is 41 EUR.
CERTIFICATION OF A DOCUMENT COPY
The Embassy can certify a photocopy of a document.
In such cases, the original document and its copy must be presented.
The consular fee for certifying a document copy is 29 EUR.
CERTIFICATION OF INHERITANCE STATEMENTS OR POWERS OF ATTORNEY RELATED TO REAL ESTATE IN SERBIA
A power of attorney related to real estate in Serbia or an inheritance statement can be certified at the Embassy in the legally prescribed form, which includes a solemnization clause.
Personal presence of the person giving the power of attorney or statement is required, and they must be identified using a valid Serbian identification document (passport or ID card).
The applicant must submit the text of the power of attorney or statement, prepared by a qualified legal professional in Serbia (e.g. lawyer).
The document must be signed at the Embassy.
The certification procedure involving a solemnization clause can take more than 30 minutes. The Embassy recommends scheduling an appointment in advance via email or phone.
Please contact the Embassy in the following cases:
- If the person giving the power of attorney or statement is unable to read or sign the document
- If the person giving the power of attorney or statement does not speak Serbian
POWER OF ATTORNEY IN THE FORM OF A NOTARIAL DEED
A power of attorney related to real estate in Serbia in the form of a notarial deed can also be certified at the Embassy.
Personal presence of the person granting the power of attorney is required, and they must be identified using a valid Serbian identification document (passport or ID card).
The applicant must submit the draft of the power of attorney, prepared by a qualified legal professional in Serbia (e.g. lawyer).
The document must be signed at the Embassy.
