REGARDING PROCEDURES RELATED TO CITIZENSHIP
Considering the specific operations of our Diplomatic-Consular Mission, which covers the territory of the Republic of India and other countries on a non-residential basis, we invite interested individuals to contact us via email so that we can arrange a consultation. Based on this conversation, we will provide appropriate information on the next steps.
REGISTRATION IN THE CITIZENSHIP RECORDS
A person over the age of 18, born abroad, whose one parent was a citizen of the Republic of Serbia at the time of their birth, acquires Serbian citizenship by descent, provided that they submit a request for registration in the citizenship records before reaching the age of 23.

Required documents:

Completed application form for registration in the citizenship records (MS Word or PDF format).
The applicant’s signature must be notarized if the application is not submitted in person at the Embassy. -
Proof that the person is not already registered in the citizenship records of the Republic of Serbia, based on the place of residence or birth of their parents at the time of the applicant’s birth.

Original birth certificate.
If the person was born abroad, the certificate must be apostilled.
A certified translation into Serbian must be submitted along with the certificate.
The translation can also be prepared and certified at the Embassy for an additional fee. -
Original citizenship certificate for the parents, not older than six months.

Marriage certificate for the parents.

Marriage certificate for the applicant, if married.

Proof of residence in a foreign country.

Photocopy of the parents’ passport(s).
The copy must be notarized if the application is not submitted in person at the Embassy.
Notes:
-
All documents in a foreign language must have a certified translation into Serbian.
If a document is sent without translation, the translation and certification will be done at the Embassy for a fee of 51 EUR per document.
