CUSTOMS CERTIFICATE

 

Certificate on the Duration of Continuous Employment Abroad

In accordance with Article 245, paragraph 1, item 4 of the Customs Law and Article 5 of the Regulation on Customs Privileges, citizens of the Republic of Serbia who have been legally employed abroad continuously for a period of two to ten years are exempt from paying import duties on household items up to a value of 20,000 euros.

Citizens of the Republic of Serbia who have been continuously employed abroad for ten or more years are exempt from import duties on household items they import from abroad without any limitation on the total value.

To exercise this right, a certificate issued by a diplomatic or consular mission is required. This certificate does not apply to import duties for motor vehicles. In accordance with the aforementioned Regulation, this right can be exercised within one year from the date of return from employment abroad. The customs authority determines the date of return from abroad based on the travel document or by other means.

To obtain a certificate on the duration of continuous employment abroad, the following is required:

  1. A valid passport of the Republic of Serbia (if the person does not possess a valid passport, a valid ID card of the Republic of Serbia is accepted);

  2. A completed and signed application form;

  3. Proof of residence abroad during the period of employment;

  4. A certificate from the employer confirming the duration of employment, or other relevant proof of work abroad;

  5. Consular fee - 124€.
