Diplomatic Charity Bazaar, New Delhi, 7 December 2014

On Sunday, 7 December 2014, the traditional diplomatic charity bazaar was held in New Delhi. Besides raising funds for charity, the bazaar also presented a good opportunity for diplomatic missions in India to promote culture, tourism, food, handicrafts, and other specificities of their respective countries. This year, the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia participated in the event. The Serbian stand stood out for the variety of products on offer, ranging from organic products (honey, tea, fruit juices, jams, corn flakes etc.), through sljivovica (Serbian brandy), wine and beer and home-made food, to Serbian handicrafts. Products offered by our Embassy caught attention of a great number of visitors. Brochures about Serbia and Belgrade, about nature, cultural events, and food, were distributed with each purchase. Great interest in our stand, besides promoting Serbia, also meant that a considerable amount of funds was collected for charity. Many of our products were sold out soon after the opening of the bazaar, and the amount of funds raised made the Serbian stand one of the most successful at this year’s bazaar. Hospitality and good spirits of the Serbian Embassy staff and their families contributed to our successful participation. We also owe our gratitude to the Serbian companies and organizations which kindly donated their products and supported our participation in this event.
